Finding Time For God, Your Way.

Finding Time For God, Your Way.

Time management with today’s fast paced culture can make it difficult to find time for God. That is why we have to make time. Here are tips, tricks and truths of making time for God and reading the Bible.

The Devil will create road blocks.

Before we even get started we have to address this! As soon as you make finding time for God a priority, your life is most likely going to get complicated. Why? The Devil doesn’t want you to have time to grow in the word because the word is what defeats him because it takes away his power. He does not want you to be armed. He wants you defenseless, angry, frustrated and in a mental state to receive his lies. As soon as you get out your bible expect outside distractions. The kids will have tantrums, your boss will call the dog will poop in the house ect. You can laugh but it’s true.

How your attitude toward the Devils distractions will determine your success.

When the Devil tries to distract you, use your words and choose your attitude. Getting angry will only give away your power. Choose to have a positive attitude. Bless the distraction aloud verbally. It might sound silly but you will be happy when you get your peace and your time with God. Say “Bless the kids, bless my boss, bless the dog and the carpet.” Take care of whats important and let the rest wait. Do you know how confused the Devil will be if you do that. He is trying to steal your power and your blessing what he intended to curse you with.

Genesis 50:20 Amplified

Bible (AMP)

20 As for you, you thought evil against me, but God meant it for good…”

He won’t know what to do with you! Before you dive into the word you have already taken a step toward spiritual maturity and that is what God loves to see. Simply by changing your words and not compromising, you will be victorious. Do you want to learn more about the power of your words? Click here to get the four CD teaching. Personally this is my favorite audio teaching it is in my car everywhere I go. I even listen to it when my radio gets reception.

The cure for self-distraction.

One word. Notepad. Have a notepad with a pen that you know works and set it within arms length of you. Whenever you remember something you have to do write it down and let it go! Short, sweet, and to the point.

Tip: Ever seen a recipe book holder? Now it is a Bible holder. Call it recycling, creative genius or common sense. Need one? Shop here. While you cook breakfast for the little ones read a chapter, verse, or word. Get in what ever you can! Remember quality over quantity.

Tip: TV time is now Bible time. Your staring at the screen anyway instead of HGTV find a sermon. If you don’t have cable or a program is not on, bust out a DVD teaching. Also I’ll admit I still get valuable information from Veggie Tales. So even your child’s TV time can be Bible time.

Romans 12:2 Amplified

Bible (AMP)

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

Tip: Nap time Review. I’m sure you use this time to clean or veg. Who knows the possibilities are endless. This is also possible Bible time.  The ideal time to study the Bible intimately is without the distraction of your kids as we all know. It is hard to divide attention and get the full of what you are reading. Nap time review is one of my personal favs.

Tip: Encourage others.

When you encourage others it inspires you to know the answers to others questions. This is a great way to become more motivated and it gives you the opportunity to focus on Jesus. Also, being others focused helps you become happier. Whenever you have a problem find a way to be a blessing to someone else.

Tip: Prayer routine with your kids.

Praying before every meal is a great way to stay focused on Jesus and teach your kids to pray. This is an easy way to also connect with God and build the foundation of your family on Christ. It’s teaching children to be grateful and that all good things are a blessing from God. Our family takes great joy in waiting for everyone to be seated before we eat to say grace. My 14 month old daughter has even screamed to remind me to pray.

Tip: Music or sermons in the car.

When you are on the go you most likely have the radio on anyway this is great time to praise and worship. Here is my favorite CD teaching that I keep in my car all the time. I will even listen to it when my radio gets reception. Today my son even started to sing along with “Speak Life”. That was an awesome feeling.

Why is making time for God so important anyway?

There is no such thing as a stupid question. There are many benefits. My favorite is waking up in the morning knowing that no Devil in Hell can shake you and that you are the righteousness of God through Christ.

Romans 3:22 Amplified

Bible (AMP)

22 Namely, the righteousness of God which comes by believing with personal trust and confident reliance on Jesus Christ (the Messiah). [And it is meant] for all who believe. For there is no distinction,

That is the kind of life you won’t want to press the snooze button on. We can all go to heaven by accepting Christ as our savior but to have the life God promised we could have we have got to want it! It also was a revelation for me to understand that God doesn’t want me to read the Bible to check it off my “Good Christian to do list” but because I need it. Just like the food we eat we need to study the word.  We need meals throughout the day, everyday to live. The word has the nutrients for spiritual growth. It is more or less a spiritual snack.

Job 23:12 Amplified

Bible (AMP)

12 I have not gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have esteemed and treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.

Another reason to study the word of God. You will know when the Devil is lying to you.

The biggest lie.

If you know what God says you will know truth. Once you know truth you will recognize a lie. You will understand grace and stop living by works. The biggest lie the Devil tells is that we have to hear Gods love. The Devil says “God is mad, disappointed, or ashamed of you..” He tells you “Your not good enough.”

John 8:44 Amplified

Bible (AMP)

44 You are of your father, the devil, and it is your will to practice the lusts and gratify the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and the father of lies and of all that is false.
